Departle shows you a real departure board, captured from an airport somewhere in the world. The destinations, airlines, gates and statuses are all real, and the board is in the airport's own language: Japanese, Arabic, Portuguese, Hebrew and dozens more. Can you tell where you're standing?

    Type an airport, city or IATA code. You'll see how far off you are and which way to head.

    Every miss reveals more: the region, the country, the first letter of the code, then the city.

How does the daily puzzle work?

Everyone gets the same departure board each day and has 5 guesses to name the airport. A new board appears at midnight, your local time.

Are the departure boards real?

Yes. Each board is a real snapshot of an airport's departures: the flights, airlines, gates and statuses come from live flight data, and the destination names are shown in the airport's own language.

Can I play without the English translations?

Yes. Switch off Translate to see only the local language. Keep it off for the whole game and your shared result is marked “no translation”.

How is the distance worked out?

Each guess shows the straight-line (great-circle) distance from the airport you guessed to the answer, an arrow pointing towards it, and how close you are as a percentage.

Is Departle free?

Completely free, with no account needed. Your progress and stats are saved in your browser.
